Description
Learn the basics of Computer Aided Design [CAD] modeling with free online software. For anyone who is new to CAD software, this course or equivalent experience is a prerequisite to take the Design for 3D Printing Digital Badge offered by the New Collar Network. This two-week course will accustom students to thinking visually in 3D; accurately moving, positioning, and dimensioning 3D geometry; and composing simple 3D shapes to create more complex forms.
To earn a Digital Badge you will:
Demonstrate basic proficiency in digital design, including: creation of basic shapes; positioning, rotating, and scaling of shapes; duplication and grouping operations; use of rulers and work planes. Demonstrate an ability to build complex designs from simple shapes that will be 3D Printed by staff for review. You must be a freshman in high school or older to participate in our “adult” courses.
Two classes in total: Wednesday, Sept. 29 and Wednesday, October 7
Choose from Morning Session (9:30am – 11:30am) or Evening Session (6:30pm – 8:30pm)
- Live, virtual classes with peer review & discussion
- One final design is printed, disinfected, and mailed to students
- $60 cost includes lab/materials fee
